Addiction Treatment for LGBTQ+
LGBTQ+ Friendly Addiction Treatment Center
LGBTQ is an initialism that stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer. Currently, LGBTQ+ incorporates all LGBTQ populations, including people who identify as queer, questioning intersex, asexual, and more. LGBTQ+ individuals suffer from substance use disorder at three times the general population’s rate. The struggle and pain of addiction are compounded by people who face social discrimination and barriers to accessing care. Fueling and compounding this trend is that individuals in the community face higher rates of abuse, violence, homelessness, and inadequate healthcare.
As an LGBTQ+-friendly facility, Lighthouse Recovery Institute welcomes patients regardless of their identity. Our addiction treatment programs focus on:
- Community-building
- Trauma therapy, family
- Peer support
In addition to providing a safe space for therapy and case management to navigate the various social and resource needs of this community, we offer access to diverse community support groups. Our Lighthouse Recovery Institute team recognizes that support groups are often the most effective approach to address the unique needs of this community, so we make support group meetings as accessible as possible. Transportation to LGBTQ+-focused twelve-step meetings can be facilitated through our Lighthouse Recovery Institute staff.
We are proud to say that we maintain a community with zero tolerance for discrimination, violence, or bullying, where all people are welcome to heal from the physical and psychological effects of addiction.
Rehab Programs Available at Lighthouse Recovery
LGBTQ+ patients are often struggling with mental health issues along with their substance use disorders. Their path to recovery from substance abuse and addiction often looks different than others. For example, transgender individuals might need specific health treatment to monitor and manage their transition. A comprehensive LGBTQ+ addiction treatment center will address these recovery needs.
Most drug and alcohol addiction recovery journeys start with detox. Because many of these substances cause physical and mental withdrawal symptoms, it’s paramount to have medical assistance and support to do so with comfort.
After the detox process is complete, patients at Lighthouse Recovery Institute enroll in an addiction treatment program that includes:
- Behavioral therapy
- Dual diagnosis
- Family therapy
- Aftercare recovery programs
